Well, school is officially OUT! Yee-haw! I am excited for this summer, because basically I have no plans that take me across any ocean! Although I love to travel, I am just in the mood to stay somewhat close to home this summer, which is a good thing, because my budget is tight this year!
I'll be driving up to the Pacific Northwest to see family and friends for a few weeks from mid-June to mid-July, so that should be fun! I am really looking forward to the trip, although I'm NOT looking forward to driving in the car with my dog Lucie for 12 hours. Yes, I'm taking my dog, and yes, I do believe I am a little nutty.
I am also really looking forward to a few more things going on this summer....
I have tickets to The Police concert! I am REALLY excited to see Sting in person and to sing along at the top of my lungs to all of those great 80's tunes! De-doo-doo-doo De-dah-dah-dah.......what masterful lyrics!
The other exciting thing I'm doing is hosting an exchange student from France for about a little over a week! Her name is Sixtine (I have NO idea how to pronounce it) and she is 18 years old and from the heart of Paris! My cousin Lisa's daughter, Jessica, will also be visiting me during that time, so hopefully they will have fun together. Jessica lives in Seattle and has taken two years of French. She REALLY wants to go to France, however that's not an option right now, so I decided it would be fun to bring France to her! I have a lot of fun things planned for the week, including a trip to Las Vegas! I can't wait to see Sixtine's reaction to "Paris.....Las Vegas".......I'm sure I'll be terribly embarrassed, but all I can say is "Welcome to America"!!!
The one thing I'm not really looking forward to is cheerleading camp. Ugh. The upcoming school year will be my final year as cheer advisor at my school. Although there are a lot of really fun things about working with the girls, it is an EXHAUSTING job. Oh, the drama of it all.....and that's just with the moms!!! (yeah, I'm NOT kidding...) Anyway, cheer camp is in July and I will suffer through it and be the loudest one cheering when it's over!
Lastly, here are some updates on random things......
.....My sister Jill had a baby boy (Jake) in January!
.....My sister Jill is going to have ANOTHER baby NEXT January....(yeah, it's true)
.....My sister Jill is moving to Richland, WA in mid-June. Her husband got a job working at the nuclear site in Hanford, WA. They are really excited about the move and I am really jealous, as they will be 3 hours from my mom and 3 hours from Seattle. I am also pretty sad that she's going to be so far away from me..... :-(
.....My good friend (and scuba diving buddy) KayLin accepted a 2-year job transfer to Oxford, England. Although I am extremely bummed that she's leaving (as she's pretty much my social life), I am really looking forward to spending 3+ weeks in the U.K. next summer!
.....I bought a MacBook laptop and I LOVE it!
.....I am SO happy that Costco now has raspberries on a regular basis! I LOVE raspberries....
.....I am not voting for Obama
That's all for now!
Well.....actually, one more thing.....my sister requested that I add this video to my posting. I was in San Diego in February to celebrate my birthday and my friend Brian and I got a little carried away lip synching to "The Glamorous Life" by Sheila E........ Yeah, we love that song! Enjoy!
